Question 1

Is AI usage really unlimited on every plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every plan includes unlimited AI reports, photo diagnosis and batch analysis — no monthly caps. Fair-use policies apply for obvious abuse.

Question 2

What is WorkMate AI?

Accepted Answer

WorkMate AI is our in-product assistant. It answers questions, helps you navigate SurveyMate, drafts quotes and supports team management. Solo gets a basic version; Pro, Agency and Enterprise get the full assistant.

Question 3

Who gets the Awaab's Law compliance module?

Accepted Answer

Every plan includes the Awaab's Law module — statutory deadline tracking, hazard flagging and the case audit trail are built in for all tiers. Enterprise adds advanced compliance reporting for housing providers managing large portfolios.

Question 4

What is the SurveyMate directory, and does it bring me work?

Accepted Answer

It is a public directory of damp and mould surveyors at survey-mate.co.uk/find-a-surveyor. Once your subscription is active you can apply to be listed as a SurveyMate Verified Firm: we review your public profile against your SurveyMate account rather than asking you to send certificates. Approved firms get a page of their own, appear when a homeowner searches their area, and receive enquiries straight into their CRM. You also get a verification badge for your own website, and clients who received a report from you through SurveyMate can leave a verified review. Listing is optional, and you can withdraw at any time.

Question 5

Does the directory listing come with a free trial?

Accepted Answer

No. The directory is available once your subscription is active. During a trial you can see how it works and get everything ready, but your profile is not published until you are on a paid plan.

Question 6

How does client invoicing work?

Accepted Answer

Connect Stripe and we handle the invoicing. Send the report, your client pays to unlock it in a polished client portal, and deposits or remedial works can be requested directly — all tracked in one jobs view.

Question 7

Can I change plans later?

Accepted Answer

Yes — upgrade or downgrade any time. Changes take effect immediately and we'll prorate the difference.

Question 8

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AES-256 at rest, TLS in transit. Your data is stored in UK data centres and we are fully GDPR compliant.

Question 9

Is SurveyMate more expensive than a basic damp app?

Accepted Answer

On the monthly figure, yes, because SurveyMate is not just a report writer. One subscription replaces the separate tools most surveyors juggle: CRM and scheduling, on-site capture, AI-assisted findings, branded reports, a client portal, and invoicing with payments. Cheaper apps do one slice of that. Measured against the stack it replaces, and the write-up time it saves on every job, Solo pays for itself quickly.

Question 10

Is SurveyMate overkill if I just want to write damp reports?

Accepted Answer

No. The Solo plan gives an independent surveyor the whole platform, from on-site capture and reporting to the client portal and invoicing, so you run your entire practice from one place, from enquiry to paid invoice. It is built for surveyors who want to run a business, not only type up notes.

Question 11

Do I need to set SurveyMate up before I can use it?

Accepted Answer

No. It works out of the box with ready-made templates, so you can create your first job and generate a professional report in minutes. Your branding, custom templates and team setup are there when you want them, never a barrier to starting.

Question 12

Does SurveyMate include dew-point, condensation and U-value calculations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Built-in calculators handle dew point, condensation risk, U-values and ventilation, and reports carry the psychrometric and Glaser analysis behind a condensation diagnosis. The building science is computed for you and evidenced in the report, not left to a separate tool.

Question 13

Can I use SurveyMate for asbestos, fire risk or EPC surveys?

Accepted Answer

SurveyMate is purpose-built for damp, mould and timber work today, and that specialist depth is the point: the findings library, compliance and AI are engineered for it. Custom templates can capture other inspection data now, and support for further surveying disciplines is on the roadmap.
